Your Guide to Attending Hidden Valley Music Festival

|

Hidden Valley is a one-day music festival held on December 27th in Matakana.

Hidden Valley can be the perfect way to ease into the summer festival season as takes place right before the large new years events, it can even be a good pit stop before making your way to Northern Bass!

Getting to Hidden Valley

There’s a separate link to purchase bus tickets, this is usually shared on social media pages a few weeks out from the event.

The buses are easy to catch before and after the festival and they’re pretty efficient for the amount of people they have to get to the festival site. The Auckland bus is the most expensive as it has the longest journey – it takes roughly an hour.

It’s also pretty easy to plan a carpool with your mates, but you can also check facebook groups to see if any groups heading to the festival have spare seats.

Take note of which gate you’ll enter and exit through on the site map, as this will depend on your mode of transport.

Where to Stay:

You can buy tickets for return buses from Auckland CBD, Omaha, Mangawhai, Warkworth, Leigh & Snells Beach. The link to purchase these is shared across the event’s social media pages separately to the event tickets page!

You can also look up places to say around any of these places and Matakana on sites such as AirBnB & Bookabach.

The Festival – Hidden Valley

Main stage

This stage is the first thing you’ll see and hear as you enter! The whole field is the viewing ground. A raised and tiered VIP platform sits in the centre of the field.

Red Bull Stage

This small stage is located at the back of the festival site. The year I attended, there was a VIP platform surrounding most sides of the stage. There was also a smaller bar here dedicated to a range of sponsor stock, so the range of drinks was more limited.

Matakana Stage

The smallest stage found to the side of the festival, in a mostly enclosed marquee.

VIP Area

VIP gives you access to an exclusive area with its own bar, with a slightly wider range of drinks.

Food & Drink

There are three bars accessible to general eventgoers and one in the VIP area. Food vendors are available towards the middle of the festival site.
